The EPV Label at the international seminar on intangible cultural heritage in Pau
As part of the international seminar "Intangible Cultural Heritage – from Inventory to Governance" organised in Pau from 15 to 17 May 2014, the Institut Supérieur des Métiers (ISM) was invited to showcase the EPV (Living Heritage Company) label. It will be presented at a roundtable on "Intangible Cultural Heritage and Territorial Policies" on Saturday, 17 May.
seminar is co-organised by the ITEM laboratory at the Université de Pau et des
Pays de l'Adour and InOc Aquitaine.
Open to the general public, it will provide an opportunity to look back on
seven years of experimentation with the notion of an inventory of the
intangible cultural heritage in the Aquitaine region
and to compare this with what has been done elsewhere in France and around the world.
Intangible cultural heritage covers a wide range of traditions, knowledge and practices, including know-how involved in traditional craftsmanship.
The EPV label will be presented as an example of a system implemented by public authorities to encourage the transmission of this knowledge and know-how from generation to generation, in a concern for promoting regions. By its very nature, this label encourages the promotion of intangible cultural heritage.
