31 March 2016: the EPV label celebrates the Journées Européennes des Métiers d’Arts (European Days of Artistic Trades) in Lyon

The inauguration of the restoration of the Chapelle de l'Hôtel-Dieu will take place in Lyon as part of the European Days of Artistic Trades. Organised by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes DIRECCTE (Regional Directorate for Companies, Competition, Consumption, Work and Employment) and the Chambres de Métiers et de l’Artisanat (Chambers of Trades), the event will highlight the participation of EPV-certified companies in this significant project. Several EPVs will present their products during the three days of the event, that will take place in many cities throughout France.

Built in the 17th century and redecorated in the 19th century, the Chapelle de l'Hôtel-Dieu, an example of Counter-Reformation architecture and adapted to the hospital, is decorated with a trompe-l'oeil neo-baroque look. The restoration of this emblematic Presqu'île de Lyon monument began in 2012.

The inauguration of this restoration will take place in Lyon on 31 March 2016. At the event, Alexis Govciyan, Director of the Institut Supérieur des Métiers, will present the state-sponsored EPV label that rewards unique expertise and excellence. Several EPV-certified companies, restorers of the Chapelle de l'Hôtel-Dieu, will also speak on the topics of business, export, transmission of knowledge and the takeover of companies. Transmission of expertise is also the theme of this 10th edition, which is entitled "Métiers d’Art, Gestes de demain" (Artistic Trades, Crafts of the future) and is to be held on 1, 2 and 3 April 2016 throughout France and Europe.

This event with its great artistic, cultural and economic potential makes it a point of honour to democratise and reveal age-old tricks and secrets, to preserve unique skills without museumising them and to ensure their future transmission by promoting training through apprenticeships and traditional French trade guilds.

We invite those of you who are fans of craft traditions to come and discover the EPV-certified companies in your area that will be present at JEMA, comme Camille Orfèvre in Paris, Jandri (manufacture of sofas) in Chennevières-sur-Marne, Shahrokh (carpet restoration) in Bormes-les-Mimosas, K Jacques (manufacture of Tropézienne sandals) in Saint-Tropez and more.

The EPV certified companies exhibiting at the event in Lyon are:

- L'horloger de la Croix Rousse, Restoration of clocks
- Luc Vaganay Sarl, Restoration of antique furniture
- Vitrail Saint Georges,
- Les Ateliers du Chat Botté Costumier, Costumier.
