Founded in 1840, the workshop is specialised in making Provencal seats. It makes marquise chairs, bergère chairs, armchairs, chairs for tables, “bonne femme” armchairs, low armless chairs, 2 or 3-seat straw couches and other furniture.

The company carries out all operations, from logging through to assembly. It sub-contracts sculpting and rushing work, but does the finishing stages itself (waxing by hand, painting if necessary). The workshop has a head saw and a stock of boards and planks which it dries in optimum conditions for five to ten years, depending on the thickness and type of wood. The workshop stands out thanks to its in-depth knowledge of the different periods of Provençal-style furniture and the rare know-how it applies following the rules of the art: in particular, cutting and drying wood, carefully respecting traditional and complex assembly methods, manual waxing and painting.

The clientele consists mainly of individual living in France and abroad. Large hotels, castles and prestigious residences own items made by Laffanour. The workshop works to order and sells directly on site. Florida and California are promising markets but, due to the unfavourable exchange rate, these markets are on standby.
