In 1852, the company set up in the region of Lyon with Jean-Baptiste Barrelon, pupil of Mauvernay and of the painter Charles Gleyre, who trained pupils including Renoir, Monet and Sisley. Since then, know-how has been passed down from master to apprentice, with each generation making a further step towards commanding the technique, up until Joël Mône who, under the name Vitrail Saint-Georges, passed it on to his son Jean Mône.
The workshop’s know-how does not only concern technique, but also the finesse and research that goes into the design. Rare and precise actions are repeated time and time again to achieve perfection, so that each stained-glass window is a unique item, whether it be contemporary, classic or decorative.
