Founded in 1924, Porcelaine du Lot Virebent started out as a maker of electrical components, door handles, finger plates and beer-bottle stoppers in porcelain.

Affected by the advent of plastic, the firm shifted its focus, moving over to specialise in tableware and decorative articles. Today it is one of the few companies in France whose production includes stoneware, faience and porcelain techniques. Moreover, thanks to its collection of old designs (from the 19th and 20th centuries) and its original equipment, it preserves traditional techniques. Over the past decade or so, Virebent has been developing innovative, contemporary designs, in conjunction with many different artists, among them Fabrice Hybert and Olivier Gagnere. Most of the company’s products are sold in the United States, Northern Europe and Japan, through specialist tableware stores. Virebent is also present at the international home fashion show, Maison & Objet.
