With a modern design office, the Ateliers, according to the customer's request, use mechanical systems while remaining true to the spirit of artistic luxury. The workshops’ skills also extend to the restoration of the wooden parts of historical monuments: wooden trims, parquets, staircases, etc. The workshop also has a wood gilding workshop, thus rounding off its creative and restorative skills. When it was founded in 1979, Ateliers Jean-Baptiste Chapuis worked exclusively on restoring French furniture from the 17th and 18th centuries. An "electronic removal” technique, invented by Jean-Baptiste Chapuis in 1986, made it possible to remove the most complex marquetries belonging to the heritage of French furniture. Its artistic ability and its capacity to group together rare know-how contribute to the national reputation of Ateliers Jean-Baptiste Chapuis, which has a clientele of private collectors, museums and public institutions.
