Chantier du Guip
The boatyard became known to the general public during the sailing festivities of Brest 92 with the construction of a magnificent schooner of the early 19th century, "La Recouvrance", which led to the setting up of a second boatyard in Brest. Guip works today on the construction, repair and restoration of traditional boats, classic yachts, and fishing boats, all in wood. The services of the boatyards in Brest and on the Ile aux Moines cover both traditional wood frames (classic planking) and modern techniques (moulded wood), joinery, the interior fitting out of boats and the making of wood masts and spars. The Guip boatyards are also state-approved for the restoration of boats listed as Historic Monuments.
