Founded in 1919 by Louis Midavaine, today the workshop is led by his grand-daughter, Anne, and remains faithful to the tradition of the great lacquer workers of the 1930s.

Renowned as one of the greatest workshops for lacquered furniture, the company is constantly designing new items, which are always inspired by the tracings and drawings of the founder whose collection it owns. The workshop carries out work on all kinds of furniture, seats, tables, screens as well as more extensive work, for example on whole rooms (living rooms or bedrooms) with lacquered wood panelling.    It continues to use the traditional techniques for applying lacquer using rabbit skin glue, whites using Meudon chalk and old-style gold leafing. The media are primed before application of the lacquer which is sometimes combined with other substances: gold or silver leaf, etc. Serving major decorating contractors, the company exports its work all over the world, with 95% of its turnover being made through exports.
