A repository of skills which have been passed down for four generations since 1872, Anne Hoguet carries on the family tradition of fan making.  Her workshop makes fans and also undertakes restoration work.

Fans consist of a frame made from various materials such wood, horn, ivory, bone or plastic, decorated with bird feathers, or a sheet of paper that can be painted with gouache, embroidered with silk threads or sequins over organza, satin, silk, taffeta, bobbin and pillow lacework or Chantilly style mechanical lace. These sheets are folded in a mould according to the frame size ; the pleating machine then carries out assembly and finishing. The workshop does jobs for operas, films, theatre, variety shows, advertising, events and haute-couture (Dior, Gaultier, Hermès, Lacroix…), as well as restoration of antique fans for a private clientele and collectors.
