Established in 1983, Laurent Plet specialises in the restoration of all types of organ. He was established in Champagne-Ardenne after several years’ training at other organ builders.

The company maintains a stock of seasoned old wood, a comprehensive set of woodworking tools, a forge, a casting table and all the equipment required for making and shaping the pipes.   Laurent Plet has made a significant contribution to some major advances made in the ethics of the profession: the restorer must play a secondary role to the builder; missing or faulty parts must be replaced by identical parts; working practices must conform as closely as possible to practices known to or specified by the original builder; and the parts required must where possible be made in the restorer’s workshop.Recognised as one of the best in France in his profession, Laurent Plet often undertakes work for Monuments Historiques (≈ National Historical Monuments and Sites Commission), notably on instruments built by the famous Cavaillé-Coll.
