Briottet was founded in 1836. It has been based in listed 19th century buildings and cellars since 1912. It is located in the centre of Dijon, the heart of crème de cassis. The company is part of the IGP Cassis de Dijon group.
This independent, family-run business still uses the traditional method: slow maceration (2 months) of blackcurrant berries in neutral alcohol and deionised water. The tank is brewed every week so that the contents are homogeneous. The virgin juice is then drawn off. The fruits are pressed in a pneumatic press, gently, with a dedicated blackcurrant programme, to extract the second juice: the "press juice". Virgin juice and press juice are combined to obtain the "blackcurrant infusion", alcoholic blackcurrant juice. The sugar added is exclusively French crystallised white sugar.

The company is distinguished in the trade by 100% crèmes de cassis of the "Noir de Bourgogne" variety harvested in Burgundy and a minimum of 240g of fruit per litre. The company has also preserved the expertise of packaging by hand: filling, corking, waxing, custom labels or not, packing in cases. Maison Briottet has an extensive range of more than 60 liqueurs, from classic raspberry or peach to original creations such as Cactus Chilli Barbary Fig or Green Tea Hibiscus.

The company has received numerous awards: New York, 2016, Ultimate Beverage Challenge, Finalist; Gold Medal at Drinks Business Liqueurs Masters 2011. It has been praised by specialised journalists (Périco-Lagasse, Paul Pacult, The Spirit Journal); It is also cited in several books on crème de cassis.
