L.A Galerie - Ada Loumani
Ada Loumani has developped a technique which requires a combination of artistru, technical skill and demanding physical work. The first stage consists of blowing a nucleus, firing it, then painting on the decoration. The process involves continually reheating the nucleus and coating it in fresh layers of glass, before blowing it into its final shape. Each stage is lengthy and risky, as each cycle of refiring produces pressure and tension within the layers of glass. The result: vases with paintwork suspended within thick glass, which intensifies the depth and resonance of the colours.
