Founded in 1953 "La Manufacture de tissus des Pyrénées" occupies the workshop where Pierre Comet invented the at the end of the 19th century.
He was seeking a strong, soft and warm fabric and had the idea of combining natural pure new wool with cotton fibres before applying the traditional technique of napping, widely used at the time by peasants of the Pyrenees. The napped wool offers great warmth and softness, while the cotton guarantees stability and strength. Today, the production of Tissu des Pyrénées lives on through the company.

It also produces 100% pure-wool boiled and milled fabrics. Here, the fabric is washed with natural soap and then heated to varying temperatures to suit its intended use. The company also produces a range of indoor wear under the Marbore brands (men’s, women’s and children’s dressing gowns, ponchos, shawls and slippers), a casual ready-to-wear womenswear collection, and a snug range of articles for the home (blankets, tartans, cushions, etc.).

The company has established a service for French designers offering bespoke manufacturing. All products are produced entirely in house and promote regional products and expertise. The company has two factory shops, one in Bagnières de Bigorre (Hautes-Pyrénées) and one in Morlàas (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) . Workshop visits are offered at Morlaàs.
