He was seeking a strong, soft, warm fabric, and had the idea of combining natural pure new wool and cotton fibres, and applying to this fabric the traditional technique of napping, widely used at the time by peasants of the Pyrenees. The napped wool does indeed provide great warmth and softness, while the cotton guarantees stability and strength. Today, the production of tissu des Pyrénées lives on through the company, which also produces 100% pure-wool boiled and milled fabrics, whereby the fabric is washed with natural soap and then heated to varying temperatures according to its end usage. Lastly, the company makes a range of underwear under the Marbore brands (men’s, women’s and children’s dressing gowns, ponchos, shawls and slippers), a casual ready-to-wear womenswear collection under the Mer et Aventure brand, a ready-to-wear collection under the Brenac brand, and a snuggly range and articles for the home (blankets, plaid, cushions, etc.). The company has put in place a service for French designers: bespoke manufacturing. All products are made entirely in-house and value regional produce and expertise. The company has two factory shops, one in Jurançon (Pyrénées Atlantiques) and one in Bagnières de Bigorre (Hautes-Pyrénées).
