It was one of the first companies to resume absinthe distillation in 2001 following a change in European legislation. The drink, marketed under the category ‘François Guy spirit based on wormwood plant from Pontarlier’ is now 45% abv.
The recipe used by Armand Guy, founder of the distillery in 1890, it still used today, perfected and passed down for four generations to François Guy. In its production the company still uses the original copper alembics to distil absinthe and anis. These are steam-heated alembic bain-marie stills. The distillery uses locally-cultivated absinthe in its production.
Products are sold directly at the workshop (distillery open for visits). They are also stocked in local superstores, in local wine cellars and by purveyors of fine foods throughout France.
