Experts in the “Lyonnaise” printing technique, they have developed two distinct forms of know-how: printing on textile and velvet textile finishing. At the end of the 18th century, printing on fabric started to develop around Lyon, and companies in the region perfected their know-how. The process used by Ateliers AS follows traditional rules: the fabric is printing on large tables, above which a frame moves containing the pattern to be printed; the frame is used as many times as there are colours to print. They have extended their activity since 2001 to finishing velvet in order to preserve this know-how, which is becoming rarer. The company works on order for professional customers specialised in clothing and furnishings. Today a subsidiary of the Hermès group, it colours and prints a large part of Hermès textile accessories, including the famous silk square scarves.
