Founded in 2012 in Paris, the glasses design studio Lucas de Staël is a remarkable creative space where the challenge is to transform materials and experiment, while retaining an ideal of freedom in its creation.
The collections are entirely hand-made. Pieces produced from leather, stone and wood are the result of a fusion between a permanent quest for surprising materials and an updated artisanal tradition.

The designers and jewellers design and create their own tools, giving the glasses incomparable character and finesse.

By marrying French-style expertise and an innovative spirit, the studio constantly seeks to redefine, push and circumvent established boundaries through technical processes. Samples and processes are developed before production can begin on a model, using a multidisciplinary approach. The mineral, plant and animal worlds are transposed and glorified in an unexpected sphere. Each frame is structured around a heart of surgical steel. It takes some thirty steps to produce a pair of glasses, with each craftsperson producing an average of three frames per day.
