Family clogmaker J. Blanchard founded in 1890 in Excideuil saw its business progressively move towards shoemaking.
In 1960, alongside his father-in-law, Georges Houcke created JMG Houcke. Managed by his son Jean-Michel since 1998, this family business has been specialising in comfortable women’s shoes since the outset.

The company boasts rare expertise including advertising, shoe design, leather cutting, stitching, forming and finishing, these are all carried out in-house.

Staff receive in-house training over a number of years. The expertise acquired by staff means that customers can choose from over 120 different models, all of which can be made to measure.

Models can be seen at various exhibitions: at the Regional Industry Shoemaking Museum (St André de la Marche, Maine et Loire) and the Richelieu workshops, the exhibition "la chaussure, une passion Française (French Footwear Association, Paris November 2012).

The company features in the French travel guide "Le petit Futé" as it offers guided tours of its workshops.
