Located in Caussade in the Midi-Pyrénées, a region traditionally known for its hats, Etablissements Crambes has made hats and caps using traditional methods since its founding in 1946.

It makes hats and caps in this way out of felt, fabric, hide and fur.  Using traditional, specific tools (among them the cementing machine and treadle press), the firm carries on traditional techniques such as cut-and-sewn and blocking of hats and caps in fet and fabric. In addition to current pattern-cutting techniques, whereby the form is given by the cut, Crambes makes hats using "forming” or "blocking”, whereby the preforming takes place by hot pressing on an aluminium block. The firm carries out a limited amount of work to order. Generally speaking, its products are marketed through a network of specialist stores in France, the United States, Europe and Asia.
