The Ganterie de Saint-Junien is the oldest glove factory still in operation today. Founded on 1 May 1919, it began life as the Coopérative de Saint-Junien, following the social upheaval of the early 20th century.

With its unique expertise, the firm has always been able to count prestigious names among its customers. Having worked closely with the then Coopérative de Saint-Junien from 1981 onwards, Hermès soon became its number-one customer, and took over the firm in 1998, rechristening it the Ganterie de Saint-Junien. The firm continues to be the main supplier of Hermès gloves, yet still maintains its creative and commercial tradition with the launch of its own collection. Each model is made from the finest leather : crocodile, peccary, ostrich, lamb, kid, fox or deer hide. Meanwhile, the firm undertakes to preserve and advocate local expertise by training craftsmen in the different glove-making trades, such as hand stitching.
