Gensac la pallue
The rare know-how is established both by the complexity of the cooperage itself and by the handling of all stages of production: manufacture of staves, large containers, traditional barrels (Bordeaux or Burgundy type) and the repair of barrels, casks and vats.
The studs are made by sawing (for vats and barrels) and the staves are split along the grain of the wood (for barrels). Every large barrel is made to measure. The master craftsmen precisely carve the oak blocks and then machine the components piece by piece. The assembly is done on planks using assembly hangers. A bending heater allows the final assembly of the barrel, which is then fired according to customer requirements. The manufacture of casks is also handled entirely in-house. All repair operations are manual: replacement of worn staves, filling of leaks, jointing, scraping, chamfering, grooving (laying the base), sanding, sealing, heating and finishing tests.
Their clientele largely consists of wine and spirits companies. It includes many prestigious references: Hennessy, Courvoisier, Martell, Château Lafitte, La Louvière, Gaby, Bodegas Beronia, etc.
