Founded in 864, the Monnaie de Paris is the oldest of France's institutions and the oldest company in the world. Intimately linked to the history of France, it has been producing money on behalf of the state for 1150 years. Today, it provides the public service mission of producing standard euros for France and other foreign currencies.

The first factory established in Paris, it is today the last still in operation and its art productions are still carried out in its historic premises of the Quai de Conti. It has 150 artisans, including engravers, modellers, carvers, coiners, stampers and finishers, etc. Men and women, heirs to ancestral know-how, come every day to practice their skills at the Monnaie de Paris, perpetuating gestures that they enrich with technological developments and pass on to new generations of artisans.

Since 1775, the Monnaie de Paris has been located at 11 Quai de Conti in the heart of the 6th arrondissement. A royal factory inaccessible to the general public for more than 200 years, the Monnaie de Paris opened to visitors in 2017 and became 11 Conti – Monnaie de Paris. The transformation project made it possible to open the vault to the public, an institution with more than 1150 years of history, to discover its collections, its heritage and its activity, particularly through its museum – the Musée du 11 Conti. The site is lively, welcoming and open to the city, offering visitors a cultural, commercial and gastronomic experience.
