The company, founded in 1460, dates from the time of the medieval paper mills and has carried out its trade for over six centuries.

It survived the upheavals of the 19th century by specialising in the manufacture of filter papers. The company is particularly known for its invention of creped paper in 1904 and is one of the last French factories to manufacture paper using Hollander beaters and based on cotton for rapid filtering

And its particular skill? The manufacture of paper using textile fibre or Hollander beaters whose use involves manual operations requiring experience.

Products available are flat, folded or sheet filters. These consist of paper for germination tests, extraction thimbles for analysing sediment, bitumen, foodstuffs and dust control. Activated carbon paper is available for filtering water, glass microfibre paper for filtering micro particles, nitrogen-free paper, air filtering, for antibiotic trials and for sugar refineries, creped paper for oil mills, and rapid filter papers for the perfume industry.

Its customers are businesses: research laboratories and industries (perfume, cosmetics, food, sugar, organic products, pharmaceutical laboratories). The Prat-Dumas paper mill works to commissions and exports some of its products to Europe, Maghreb, the Middle East and Singapore.
