The company Giovanna da Brescia SARL was founded in 2006 and continues the activity of instrument-maker Laulhère & Chitto SARL, which was founded in 1993.

It makes modern and baroque style violins, violas and cellos, which are varnished using a technique known as "affresco”. This process, which the company filed in 2007, is a drying technique that involves using a calcareous mineral sub-layer that hardens the wood on the surface and thus modifies the mechanical characteristics of the wood and the resonance of the instrument.

The company also restores antique musical instruments. For example, in 2006-2008 it made the 12 sizes of violins for the Orchestre des 24 Violons du Roy, for the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles.
