Sale to private individuals and professionals

Luxbag-MCF succeeded MCF in 2005, the latter being founded in 1992. This itself succeeded “Gainerie Tourangelle”, which was founded in 1962. The company is specialised in making cases and bags for wind, string and keyboard instruments.

It proposes made-to-order products, small series of products and restoration of old cases and bags. The company can also carry out special orders, for example the manufacture of cases for fragile tools (medical material, different machines and tools).

The following operations are carried out in the workshops: manufacture of boxes from poplar or birch wood, design of foam-injected moulds to make cases, cutting of materials for coverings, coverings (the exterior of the cases is covered in leather or different sorts of vinyl, the interior is covered in foam and then padded with velvet or felt), stitching (sewing bags and cases in all materials, including rigid). The know-how for making cases for musical instruments is rare: the company is the only craft manufacturer that is exclusively specialised in this field and, in particular, has know-how in coverings. There is no specific training for making cases for musical instruments. Initial training courses exist in the following fields: moulding, joinery, use of supple materials and foams, tapestry, coverings. In-house training is necessary to master the techniques used.

The clientele consists 95% of professionals (instrument makers), including some prestigious instrument-making brands: Buffet-Crampon, Antoine Courtois, F.Lorée, etc. The company works only to order. Around a third of sales are exported.
