Linge au Coeur
In 1956, the company bought out another one specialised in "Beauvais stitch”, a crochet stitch that was quicker to do than needle stitching, and this technique became part of the company’s specialities. The company then became known as "Linge au coeur” and became specialised in bespoke embroidery in three main areas: household linen, interior decoration and haute-couture.
The workshop designs and makes customers for projects: sketches are made by hand and "tacked” using the traditional tacking machine. Then, depending on the model, the embroidery is done with a needle (Beauvais stitch, openwork stitching, etc.), guided by hand (Bourdon) or on a machine (Cornely) or with the use of a multiple-headed machine guided by a computer. The company works with all kinds of material: canvas, wool, silk, rayon, leather, etc.
"Linge au coeur” works for decoration and ready-to-wear fashion professionals as well as for private customers. The company works to order and offers collections of household linen and baby clothing in its boutique in rue de Valois in Paris.
